The California Energy Commission (CEC) authors and oversees the Energy Code in the State. California leads the nation with its energy standards and updates the Building Energy Efficiency Standards every 3 years. With these updates, finding a pathway to compliance becomes more and more challenging.
So Cal HERS Raters has the experience and expertise not only to support your project and the Title-24 calculation requirements but also the HERS testing requirements.
We are CABEC Certified Energy Analysts (CEA). When you hire a CEA to complete your Title-24, you can rest at ease knowing the calculation was done correctly. CEA’s must undergo a strenuous process to achieve the certification.
When you hire us, we work with you to provide the most cost effective approach to achieving Title-24 Energy Compliance.
We understand that communication is a major component to avoiding costly mistakes with respect to the projects energy requirements.
Single family Residential New Construction, Addition, or Remodel.
After we create the energy model, we will reach out to you for a brief overview and to discuss your options as related to the water heating system and the HVAC system. (i.e. Gas Water Heater, Heat Pump Water Heater, Gas Furnace, Heat Pump, Air Conditioner).
We then will work with your energy model, based on your systems, and find the most cost effective path to compliance for your project.
When a compliance path is established, we will present you with a summary of the efficiencies for the building envelope (wall-floor-attic insulation, window efficiencies, and roofing) and the efficiencies that your HVAC and water heating equipment must achieve.
While we can specify exact make & model of equipment, we find it is better to simply present you with the minimum efficiencies for the equipment so you can work with your vendor/installer who can propose several options.
The Title-24 Report must be registered with a CEC approved HERS Provider. The HERS Provider officiates the document with a Watermark and a unique registration code.
There are some steps required for the owner (responsible person) with respect to the registration process. Our office will walk you through the steps necessary to register the project and receive the official report.
The Title-24 Report is generally 12 pages or more in length. We can plot the multiple pages on full size drawing sheets and send you a PDF file for ease when it comes to pulling your building permit.
